To launch a vocational training
program for underprivileged youth as a pilot project
at places driven below the poverty line to uplift
the youth in those areas.
Under the project the youth will
be trained in a selected field for four months
and given a basic knowledge of English. The training
institute conducts programs on hospitality industry,
industrial sewing, carpentry and front office
management.
50 youth would be selected and
would be trained to the level of employability.
The youth will also be subjected to constant monitoring
and further training once in job.
This program will enhance the
skills and knowledge of unemployed youth to help
them seek employment in any part of the country.
Based on the outcome of the pilot
project the programme would be extended to other
parts of the country.
Negotiations are being made with
hotels, bakeries, garment factories and other
enterprises to provide employment opprtunities
for trained youth.
Arrangements will be made in
the region to bring banks and the borrowers into
a common platform to obtain loans for them to
move forward the sector in the region.
The above are a few of the projects among many
others striving to provide assistance in all walks
of life to the needy and destitute in Sri Lanka.
We have tried to give you a flavor of the type
of projects pursued by us. New ideas and projects
are always welcome |
